Moelwyn Cottage

Moelwyn Cottage is available to hire all year round and makes a perfect base for large groups visiting Snowdonia or North Wales. As part of the National Mountain Centre it has many unique benefits, including the low cost of rental.

10 bed room

Based in a picturesque courtyard this fantastic cottage sleeps 16 and is part of  Plas y Brenin, the National Mountain Centre, in the village of Capel Curig. A great base to explore all Snowdonia has to offer thanks to its central location.

Moelwyn Cottage is an ideal base for large groups, families, colleagues, clubs or friends, whether you are looking for a tranquil relaxing break, action-packed adventure, a great place for a celebration/birthday weekend or a reunion.

The cottage is ideally located for all kinds of outdoor activities, hill walking, mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, climbing but also a great base for enjoying a more relaxing break.

If planning your own adventures isn’t for you but you still fancy being active, you can arrange instruction for any of our on-site or off-site activities through the main centre, it could be anything from trying something new like kayaking to developing your skills in a particular activity like learning how to lead climb. Whatever your choice, we can tailor the instruction to suit you.

If you hire Moelwyn Cottage as a group of friends or outdoor enthusiasts the there are tons of great things to do. Mountain bikers will be able to ride The Marin Trail right from the doorstep and the equally challlenging Penmachno trails are a short ride away too. Coed y Brenin and Llandegla Mountain Bike Centers are both easily reached by car too.

For Hillwalkers, mountaineers and rock climbers there simply isn't a better location in the UK. Minutes from the base of Snowdon, there are towering mountains, winding valleys and steep crags all around. The outdoor adventures in this area never stop unveiling themselves.

For kayakers and canoeists there are lakes, rivers and estuaries every way you go and the rugged coastline of Anglesey and the Menai Straits are just a short drive away, offering world renowned sea kayaking journeys aplenty.

Of course, for families there are countless adventures in the area too ranging from peaceful hillside walks, river for the kids to paddle in, glorious sandy beaches, bike trails and other man made attractions to visit. There are some great places to visit with kids, The Greenwood Centre, Padarn Country Park and Lake in Llanberis, numerous castles for them to explore, fantastic clean beaches, and the snowdon railway.

10 bed roomClean, warm and comfortable, the cottage sleeps 16 accross 3 bedrooms (one 10 bed, one 4 bed and one 2 bed all with bunk beds) each room has a sink and mirror. There are separate showers and toilets.

10 bed roomThe kitchen/dinning room is well equipped for catering for 16 with a cooker, a large fridge/freezer and plenty of pots, pans, plate, cups & utensils with tables and benches giving you plenty of space to eat.

Our on-site Bar is open for drinks including some fantastic locally brewed ales and tasty bar meals at lunch times (12-2) and in the evenings (6.45-11, 10.30 on Sunday).
