The Big Splash (14-15 April)
This April we'll be helping Canoe England celebrate National 'Go Canoeing Week' with our own 'Big Splash' event.
The Big Splash is a weekend dedicated to Canoeing and Kayaking, aimed to help get you out on the water.
This fast moving, fun filled weekend is designed for those who are new to paddling or have limited experience. It's a no-pressure
opportunity to boost your knowledge, develop your skills and find out what the sport is all about. If you've been out of the sport for a long time, it's also an ideal opportunity to get back in a boat and find out what's new in the sport.
With a practical, water based workshop approach you'll be able to sign up to whatever suits you best and learn exactly what you need to know. Along with technical coaching, you'll be able to check out the latest kit, paddles and boats and get the chance to talk to top coaches about what kit is right for you.
You'll discover how to make the most of the UK's waterways, get up to speed with the latest on access and safety issues and find out how to join a club or simply meet paddlers in your area.
You'll have the opportunity to try out all kinds of different boats including sit on tops, sea kayaks, touring and lightweight canoes, freestyle and creaking boats, slalom kayaks and everything in between.
After enjoying a full day of workshops and technique coaching each day, in the evenings you'll enjoy entertaining guest speakers recount tales of far-flung kayak adventures or simply chat to other paddlers about their boating.
By the end of the weekend, you'll have developed your skill, knowledge and understanding of the sport and you'll have a clear picture of what direction you want to progress in canoeing.
To help you get involved we've kept the price of this weekend down to an absolute minimum.
