Experiences for Groups |
If you want to bring a group to the Welsh mountains for a taste of the outdoors, you'll find our blend of knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm produces an experience that's unrivalled in the outdoor world.
Our location, deep in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, and first class facilities make us an ideal choice for a group of friends, local or visiting schools, colleges, youth clubs and voluntary organisations like the Scouts and Guides.
We love introducing beginners to adventure sports, making sure that they enjoy themselves and progress at their own pace. That's why everything is maintained at the highest standard possible from instruction and equipment to facilities and accommodation, all helping to make your visit an enjoyable one.
We offer two different adventure experiences. For local or visiting groups staying in the area we offer adventure days. For visiting groups who want to make use of our excellent self-catered facilities and arrange everything for their trip in one go we offer adventure packages. You can even choose to add meals to both experiences.
Have a read through the information on this page to help you decide what suits your group, then call Lissie Smith, Plas y Brenin's full time Youth Co-ordinator on 01690 720119 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday or E-mail lissie.smith@pyb.co.uk for further details or to make a provisional booking.
Adventure Days
If you're a local or visiting group staying in the area and you're looking for adventure then why not join us for an action packed day. We offer two categories of group sessions, one for small groups and one for large groups.
Groups of less than thirty
If there are less than thirty people in your party you can split the day into two or three sessions of any of the activities listed, or if you’d like more in-depth instruction, you can dedicate the entire day to one activity.
The price listed is an overall cost covering equipment and instruction for a maximum of ten people.
For example, ten people can canoe all day at a total cost of £300 (£30 each) but if there are only five people in your group it will still cost £300 (£60 each), so it’s in your interest to fill the places.
Groups of more than thirty
If there are more than thirty people in your party our admin costs are reduced, so we can afford to cut the cost for you. Provided we know your selection well in advance you can pick any three of the activities listed and you’ll receive a two-hour session on each one during the course of a day.
If you’d rather you can choose two activities or, as in the small groups programme, spend a day on one activity. The main advantage for you is that as long as there are more than thirty people in your group you only pay £28 per head.
For example if thirty-six people do a range of three activities each over the day you only pay a total of £1008.

Our lake provides groups with
the perfect environment to learn and develop the skills
involved in kayaking or canoeing. Games help with
the learning process and add to the fun.
After being taught how to read
and follow a map, groups are split into small teams,
which compete to find control points located within
the boundaries of the centre.
Our purpose built artificial slope offers groups the
opportunity to learn a new and exciting sport. Groups
will be taught techniques to enable them to descend
the slope in a controlled manner.
A challenging activity on our
state-of-the-art indoor climbing walls. Groups are
taught the basic skills and techniques involved in
this exciting sport.
An exhilarating activity on
our very own rock face or abseil tower. Groups are taught the basic
skills and techniques to safely descend, providing
a real sense of achievement.
A guided walk to the summit
of Moel Siabod. During the walk groups will have the
opportunity to learn how to read a map and individuals
or pairs are encouraged to lead the group.
Groups are set the task of imaginatively designing
and building a raft from a selection of basic equipment.
When the raft is finished the group will use it to
cross the river that flows through the grounds.
On our new purpose built course.
Groups work together on problem solving tasks and
activities designed to promote teamwork. Communication
plays a large part as groups discuss each problem
in search of a solution.
These are only a selection
of the activities we can offer, we also offer offsite
activities by special arrangement.
