Free Talk 'Avalanche Awareness'

Avalanches do happen in the UK when there is snow on the hills. Our maritime climate means we have constantly changing weather; from temperature and snowfall to wind speed and direction, this affects the strength and stability of the snowpack. It is vital to keep a close watch on conditions during the winter season if you are planning on heading into the hills and mountains. Our Avalanche Awareness talks are designed to help you make good decisions when you are planning and out enjoying the British hills in winter. We use the Scottish Avalanche Service's Be Avalanche Aware system to help you make better judgements on where and when to go. Whether you are new to winter or have some years of experience under your belt this lecture will help you develop your decision making skills when venturing out into the snow. 5:30pm start, free and open to all.
