British Cycling
Recreation Education Tutors
( £180 per day)

The continued growth of British Cycling's Recreation Education programme, a programme dedicated to the development of cutting edge and innovative recreational qualifications such as cycling leadership qualifications, has resulted in the need for new Recreation Education Tutors. Therefore, Recreation Education is looking to recruit experienced professionals to join the dedicated team.

We are keen to hear from candidates with strong knowledge and experience of instructing, teaching and leading groups.

Candidates should be willing to commit to delivering at least four Recreation Education courses (i.e. 8 days of delivery) and attend one continuing professional development event per year.
Successful applicants are required to complete a comprehensive three-day Coach Educator workshop and a two-day Coach Assessor workshop, which will train them in accordance with the requirements of the UK Coaching Certificate.
Candidates will also attend a course-specific orientation for each course to be delivered. Following this initial training, further support will be provided by the Recreation Education team to meet tutors' individual needs.

We are looking for individuals who can fulfil the following selection criteria

  • Hold a valid NGB leadership award.
  • Navigational knowledge/qualification.
  • Experience of tutoring and/or facilitation
  • Experience in, or knowledge of, assessment principles and practice would be an advantage.
  • A dynamic and enthusiastic personality
  • Be able to inspire people.
  • Have a positive attitude towards the development of the leading environment and support the aims and objectives of British Cycling Recreation Education.
  • Be actively leading groups and/or individuals at a level relevant to the qualification to be tutored. The posts that are available will mainly require work on weekends.

These criteria are only a basic guide and we will be pleased to consider applications from individuals who feel they are suitably qualified. EXPEDITIONER REQUIRED
AIGLON COLLEGE (SWITZERLAND)

CIS accredited International Boarding School in the Alps for 350 pupils aged 9 to 18 representing more than 50 nations.

Aiglon College is a prestigious British international boarding school for boys and girls aged between 9 and 18, located at an altitude of 1300m in the Swiss Alps. Aiglon has a policy of compulsory outdoor education for all students at the weekends. Every student participates in walking and camping as well as other adventurous pursuits during the autumn and summer terms whilst in the winter term the focus is on skiing, ski touring and snow shoeing.

We are looking for somebody with experience and love of outdoor activities to assist with our expeditions programme throughout the school starting

September 2010 for 10 months to June 2011.

There will also be an opportunity to work on our summer school for additional pay. By mutual agreement, the post could be extended for a further twelve months. The post is part-time and comes with accommodation and food.

Qualifications
Applicants needs to hold a minimum of SPA and ML summer award (preferably winter as well) or equivalent. A clean minibus driving licence with D1 is required and the ability to ski competently is desirable as is a basic knowledge of French. Experience or qualifications in other activities such as mountain biking and paddle sports would also be advantageous. It is vital that applicants have an affinity towards working with young people.

BSES Expeditions
BSES Expeditions 2010 Leader Positions

BSES Expeditions is a youth development charity that organises adventurous field work expeditions to wilderness environments. There is a strong focus on adventure with purpose as well as a common youth development thread to all of our expeditions. At the heart of every expedition is a skilled team of scientists, mountain leaders, tropical experts, teachers, career expeditioners, medics and youth workers.

BSES requires the following leaders for its 2010 expeditions:

Winter Mountain Leader Extreme Arctic (Svalbard)
17 April – 16 June 2010 Must have experience leading groups in winter and glacier experience including rope work and rescue techniques. Must also be comfortable camping in winter conditions.

Mountain Leader Arctic Adventure (Svalbard) & Indian Himalaya
15 July – 29 August 2010
Must have experience leading groups in mountainous environment including experience of glaciated terrain, rope skills and working on steep ground.

Canoe Leader Peruvian Amazon
23 July – 29 August 2010
Must be experienced in leading groups on river journeys and possess formal training in canoe safety and rescue

The Bushcraft Company is currently offering seasonal work within the field of Bushcraft Survival. The available positions involve working within a highly motivated, vibrant team and teaching students of all ages Bushcraft skills, as well as other elements of outdoor education.
We are looking for switched on, hard-working and energetic individuals with a love of the outdoors to join our team.

All successful candidates will undergo in-house training before they work for us. We are offering work throughout the season, from April until October.

Whilst working for us you would be living in our tented accommodation on site. We are based in Oxfordshire and all interviews, training and work takes place in the Oxfordshire area.
