Area of work at Plas y Brenin
On the 'Instructor Scheme' working to develop and broaden my experience of outdoor work, with a focus on mountaineering and rock climbing.
Any day that involves sun, adventures and a nice place is great - especially if the people are fun to be around. I'd choose the adventure over the grade, but sometimes doing harder stuff means having a more exciting time and it's always satisfying to claw your way to the top at the end of an onsight knowing that you pushed it exactly the right amount. Onsighting King Wad (E5 6b) ticks the box, but so does Fiesta de Los Biceps (7pitch f7a in Riglos) with circling vultures and a cloud inversion, the Cassin route on the Cima Piccolisima (VII-/E2) as a team of three - two of whom were suffering from hefty food poisoning, Fantan B (a very esoteric 200m HVS on the Lleyn) in the sun with nobody but my other half and an army of seals around, or even hanging out in a sunny Fontainbleau climbing nothing hard as a big team.
Gogarth, Catalunya, Stanage and the Cromlech.
People who do cool things and have a conscience. Sun, views, interesting wildlife, keen partners and no midges.
Some assessments and the Dolomites in July. Gogarth this afternoon.
