Can you take us to the next stage in our development?

This is an opportunity to lead the iconic Plas y Brenin National Outdoor Centre as the Chief Executive of Mountain Training Trust (the charity) and its trading subsidiary, Mountain Training Limited.

Located in the Snowdonia National Park, the National Outdoor Centre, is renowned for providing the highest level of training and development for both volunteer and professional instructors, leaders and coaches in rock climbing, mountaineering, paddle sports and mountain biking. It is also committed to nurturing the skills of individuals who wish to maximise their enjoyment of the great outdoors. The team also play a key role in supporting the outdoor sector, primarily through their engagement with the main adventure sports National Governing Bodies.

Plas y Brenin, the Mountain Trust Trust (MTT) and Mountain Training Limited (MTL) are inextricably linked. Owned by Sport England, the National Centre has been successfully operated, under contract, by MTT / MTL, since 1997. All are committed to safeguarding the long term future of Plas y Brenin, underpinned by a charity that is financially sustainable. The role of CEO is pivotal to this aspiration, providing leadership in the implementation of strategic objectives so ensuring that the charity delivers on its obligations.

MTT has in place a business plan that gives vision for modernisation, transformation and cultural change. Over the past four years, significant work has been undertaken by the incumbent CEO, who has laid down strong foundations for future growth. A natural transition point has been reached.

We are looking for a Chief Executive to now take us to the next stage in our development. You will have the experience and skills to deliver cultural change, with the entrepreneurial ability to understand how best to maximise opportunities to create a financially self-sustaining business whilst at the same time observing our charitable obligations and good governance.  Our core driver of world-class instruction cannot be compromised. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders, Board Members and external partners. You will provide exemplary leadership to a committed workforce to ensure the achievement of business objectives across a complex organisation.

You will be a champion of, and an ambassador for, outdoor adventure locally, regionally and nationally. You will lead in maintaining the reputation of Plas y Brenin for excellence in learning and for high standards in safety.

Most of all this is your opportunity to lead the way, influence the sector, and make a real difference out there.
