We are recruiting to a new role – Head of Fundraising.

We are seeking to safeguard our long term future and become more financially resilient. The drive to generate our own funds, leveraging more returns from the iconic Plas y Brenin brand, forms a key part of the Mountain Training Trust’s (MTT) drive to diversify its income streams. MTT has long been synonymous with the operation of Plas y Brenin as the charity and has operated the centre since 1997 when its operation was transferred across from Sport England.

Over the last 12 months, we have been exploring the viability of the charity to undertake fundraising activities. This has included input from professional fundraisers as well as members of the MTT board. The broad consensus is that we have a rich and extensive armoury on which to design and go to market with attractive and poignant fundraising propositions.

Funds raised will be to safeguard the core operations of the charity, as well as our primary role of operating Plas y Brenin long into the future to support the next generation of outdoor leaders, no matter what their background might be.

We believe that the outdoor environment provides the ultimate testing ground for people, from all backgrounds, to discover their own capabilities and true potential. We train, qualify and set the standards for the outdoor leaders who make life-changing outdoor experiences enjoyable and safe.

We are aware this is currently a challenging market. Yet we firmly believe that by drawing on our long-standing association with Plas y Brenin, connecting with its supporters, friends and associates, this has the potential to add a new dimension to the charity.

The appointment of a Head of Fundraising will lead this new work stream; designing donor propositions, overseeing grant applications to trusts and foundations, as well as leading on hosting fundraising events. The successful candidate will report on fundraising activity, success and trends to the senior management team and the charity’s board.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraising manager to bring to life our fundraising strategy. We’re particularly interested in hearing from fundraisers who would relish the opportunity to shape and make this role their own, developing and leading on a broad range of fundraising activities.
