This one day, land-based module is for British Canoeing Leaders who have a passion for enhancing other paddlers' experiences when they're on the water. You'll expand your knowledge of the customer experience, and putting them at the forefront of the trips and journeys you're guiding. Our friendly, highly experienced staff share their expertise in all the elements of client care, from the client information required prior to a trip or session to dealing with a range of incidents and accidents (check the full list of areas covered in the aims/ outcomes section).
The aim of this module is that you'll leave with increased knowledge and experience of;
Client information required prior to trip/session
Tools for paddler profiling, medical forms and questionnaires
Assumed responsibilities and liabilities
Matching client expectations to measurable outcomes for the day Involving the client in the decision-making process
Adding value to the experience
Assessing client competence and matching it to the given outcomes for the day
Test pieces, progressive challenge by choice - deciding when to ‘commit' the group
Ability to deal with a range of incidents and accidents that might arise during the venture -methods of getting assistance, equipment failure, environment specific first aid scenarios.

What to Expect
You'll cover this one day module through a mixture of classroom and practical sessions. All session will be land-based.
Modules are available to all British Canoeing and Home Nation members
Guide modules will be recognised as CPD (1 module = 18 months CPD)
Other modules will be added as the guide scheme develops.
3 of the 5 subject areas need to be completed or evidence produced to become a full Guide.
Guiding others, and helping them to appreciate and enjoy the aquatic environment is a special role. The British Canoeing Guide modules help enhance your leadership skills to make these journeys truly memorable.
During the day you'll have free hot drinks and afternoon tea.Support is on hand from our friendly, and exceptionally well qualified, staff to help develop your understanding and personal skills. They also help you to formulate an appropriate action plan for your further development.
