Get a thorough grounding in kayaking on this five-day course . We'll introduce you to all the basic kayaking skills and equipment you’ll need to get started in your new sport. Take to the water amongst the breath-taking scenery of North Wales’ rivers, lakes and sea. You’ll have also ample opportunity for coaching and progression in white water and sea kayaking from our hugely experienced coaches.

What to Expect
On the first day you'll concentrate on developing good paddling technique and water confidence, using the local lake, river and our heated indoor pool. We'll then explore the spectacular coastline and rivers of North Wales, as we develop your paddling skills and confidence even further.
There are no formal pre-requisites for this course.

If your course is based at Plas y Brenin, the residential price includes accommodation for the night before, and the duration of your time here. If you’re staying with us, we also provide delicious meals to keep you going as you learn, meaning you can concentrate on enjoying yourself. We may also be able to arrange a transfer from Llandudno Junction train station, subject to availability. We would need a minimum of one week’s notice prior to your course start date – please contact reception to learn more.
When it comes to equipment, at Plas y Brenin we have a wide range of top-quality kit for you to use, all included in your course fee. This means if you’re just starting out, there’s no need to rush out and buy a load of expensive gear, and if you’re already pretty well kitted-out, it’s a great chance to try something new.
All you really need to bring is sufficient base clothing to wear, and some suitable footwear. Our stores have a wide range of Peak UK soft wear as well as paddles and poles. We have an extensive selection of different styles of kayaks from a range of manufacturers. This is an ideal opportunity to try something new if you'd like to. If you prefer the familiar, feel free to bring along your own kit.
You don't need to do any preparation in advance, but you should be fit enough for five days of activity.
