Put your experience and enthusiasm to good use and climb with the most experienced guides and instructors in Scotland. This superlative Winter Climbing experience aims to help you get the best from five days in Scotland. Our high staff to student ratio gives you a tailor made week of action to help you fulfil your winter climbing potential and move up the grades. We'll develop your skills by sharing our passion for winter climbing as we find our way up the big grade III to IV routes on ice and mixed terrain. Climbing some of the longer classics will mean the need for speedy and efficient climbing, and you're bound to pick up plenty of top tips along the way. This course will be delivered from our scenic winter base in Scotland, the Alltshellach hotel in North Ballachulish.

Experience Required

If you've attended our Scottish Introduction to Winter Climbing Course or gained similar experience of climbing routes of grade II or above then this is the next step for you. A high level of fitness will allow you to make the most of this week. You'll need to be able to undertake five consecutive days in the Scottish Mountains with ascents of approximately 1000m whilst carrying a rucksack weighing about 10Kg.

If your course is based at Plas y Brenin, the residential price includes accommodation for the night before, and the duration of your time here. If you’re staying with us, we also provide delicious meals to keep you going as you learn, meaning you can concentrate on enjoying yourself. We may also be able to arrange a transfer from Llandudno Junction train station, subject to availability. We would need a minimum of one week’s notice prior to your course start date – please contact reception to learn more.

When it comes to equipment, at Plas y Brenin we have a wide range of top-quality kit for you to use, all included in your course fee. This means if you’re just starting out, there’s no need to rush out and buy a load of expensive gear, and if you’re already pretty well kitted-out, it’s a great chance to try something new.

We want to help you to achieve your goals so if you're staying with us, comfortable accommodation (with WIFI included) and home-cooked food are part of the deal, you don't need to think about sorting this out for yourself. Your equipment hire, including snow safety equipment is included, as is in-course transport and parking. Support is on hand from our friendly, and exceptionally well qualified staff, to help develop your understanding and personal skills. They also help you to formulate an appropriate action plan for your further development.
