Mike Raine is Senior Instructor with responsibility for Environment, he also oversees the Home Nations Mountain Training schemes and the Instructor Scheme. He is the author of Nature of Snowdonia, the first complete field guide for Snowdonia across the four seasons.
Mike operates across all our hill-based courses here in north Wales. He can be tempted away by the odd interesting First Aid course but usually prefers to stay in Snowdonia.
Mike has been a keen rock climber and dabbling mountaineer for rather a long time now, so much so that his current interests are more sea kayak and mountain bike-based. You will find his name in odd places have climbed a few new routes and, at various times, has been considered a ‘slatehead’ and a south-west activist. He still believes a good day out in the Scottish winter is possibly the best climbing experience to have (though, for him, that’s part of an earlier chapter).
