Open Water Swimming

Supervised open water swimming sessions designed to give you the opportunity to build your confidence and improve your technique, with full safety boat cover.

We offer supervised Open Water Swimming sessions in the fresh, clean waters of Llynnau Mymbyr, with the spectacular backdrop of the Snowdon Horseshoe.

All sessions cost just £7.50 and include two hours of open water swimming with full safety boat cover and top performance tips from Plas y Brenin Instructor and hugely experienced open water swimmer Helen Teasdale.

Each date has two available sessions, with a beginners session running from 10am-12pm, and an intermediate session from 1.30pm-3.30pm. All participants must be able to swim at least 100 metres in a pool.

The beginner sessions are for confident pool swimmers making their initial forays into open water swimming, while the intermediate sessions are intended for those with some experience of open water swimming who are looking to further improve their endurance and technique with the added reassurance of supervision.

Sessions are currently available on:

  • Sunday 8 September 2019
  • Sunday 6 October 2019

Please call 01690 720214 or email to reserve your space.

All participants should arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of their session, and bring:

  • A wetsuit (this will be optional if the water temperature is above 18 degrees).
  • Goggles
  • Swimming cap
  • Towel

Changing and shower facilities are available for your use, and Plas y Brenin’s Bar Yr Wyddfa will be open from midday, with hot drinks and freshly-made cakes available.
