How we use and protect your information.


Plas y Brenin (managed on behalf of Sport England by The Mountain Training Trust) has produced this privacy statement to explain how we use and protect any information gathered from visitors to the Plas y Brenin website.

You have certain legal rights to control what we do with your information. This includes the right to get access to your personal information to, request us to correct or update incorrect information, to object to or request that we restrict processing your information in certain circumstances and to object to direct marketing.

Mountain Training may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 1st June 2018.


Mailing List

Plas y Brenin maintains an email list which you can subscribe to for the newsletter. This is contained within the footer of the website. You can also subscribe contacting us directly.

We collect your email address and add this to the email list. We will also capture first name, last name, email address, postcode and gender (with a ‘prefer not to say’ option). We will use these last two fields to make sure we send relevant messages.

We do not send random and untargeted, unsolicited e-mails. You can opt out of our marketing emails at any time by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ button in any such email, or by contacting us directly.

The information is collected via the form on our site and is stored on a non-public database on our web server (computer), which is based in the UK.

Email addresses are held on our database and on a separate email list to which we send our email newsletter.

The email list is used to send out information about our courses and events here at Plas y Brenin.

Plas y Brenin does not divulge your registration information to any third parties, unless you have booked a course with us. By booking a course with us you must agree to our Terms and Conditions, which gives us permission to share information about you relating to the course that you have booked, with our course directors and Plas y Brenin staff, to ensure we provide you with the best customer experience.


Your Account Details and Registration Information

At point of booking we request that you register for an account with Plas y Brenin. All of the information we collect during the registration process is relevant to the processing of your booking and to enable us to communicate with you regarding your booking. Once you have an account set up you can control your personal information and communication preferences. We would ask that you keep this up to date so we can continue to provide you with the best service. These details will not be shared with any third parties unrelated to your course. All customers who register for an account with us can opt in for updates on what is happening at Plas y Brenin and may opt-out at any time, by changing their communication preferences on the My Details page of their account. All details are stored on a non-public, secure database on our web server (computer), which is based in the UK.



Occasionally, the Plas y Brenin website may feature links to other, external websites. Plas y Brenin is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.



We will not pass your information to any third parties organisations unrelated to your course.


Website Statistics

Visitor IP addresses are logged as part of the daily website statistic gathering. This is a common occurrence on the majority of websites. It is used only for the accurate reporting of statistics
