Sunday 19th April to Sunday 26th April 2020
WEMSI is a unique organisation delivering courses in pre-hospital emergency care. The volunteer faculty is made up of actively practising, highly experienced doctors, paramedics, ambulance technicians, climbers, paddlers, cavers, skiers, explorers and adventurers! Each year they come together from all over the world and volunteer their time to provide a high staff-to-student ratio course that aims to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills that will help prepare them for patient care in a remote environment.
Each course has a very high level of practical content using realistic scenarios, patients and make-up that build in complexity as the course progresses; all theory sessions are delivered by specialists in their field, making WEMSI courses both challenging and unique. All our courses have an element of on-going assessment.
The WEMT course is the gold standard in preparing for situations when you could be in a remote setting with a patient. Mountain Rescue team members, expedition leaders, humanitarian professionals, scientists working remotely, and military medics are among some of the people who have benefited in the past.
In order to attend this course, you should have a higher level of medical knowledge than a basic 16hr course, such as a previous Wilderness EMT course, the WEMSI First Responder, be an experienced First Aider, a nurse, vet or have other hands-on patient experience.
The course is £875 per person, and is only available on a residential basis due to its intense nature.
